Bengaluru: The BJP, which faced a setback with Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot approving the Greater Bengaluru Governance Bill despite protests, will legally fight the new law, Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka said on Friday.

“We had asked the Governor not to approve the Bill as it violated the 74th Amendment. We will fight the law legally,” Ashoka said.

Ashoka said the Governor had given his assent to the Bill as per procedure. “The Governor’s office isn’t the BJP’s office as Congress claims. If he signs a Bill, it’s fine. When he doesn’t sign a Bill, it becomes the BJP’s office. This is the Congress’ conspiracy,” he said.
