This novel programme was organised to mark the 157th birth anniversary of Sharada Devi by Ramakrishna-Vivekananda Ashram which also celebrated its 18th anniversary on the occasion.

They also donated clothes and foodgrain to these women.

Addressing the gathering later, the Governor said that the culture of a community will be considered noble only if it respects and educates its women.

He said though ours is a noble culture based on Vedas which claimed - ‘Matru Devobhava’ (Mother is God), the selfish community in the past appropriated the discourse with vested interests.

Hence certain communities rebelled against the hegemonic Vedic culture, he added.
