A heated argument ensued between members of Cow Protection Force and policemen when the former were heading to Raj Bhavan to submit a memorandum to the governor urging him to give assent to the Cow Slaughter and Cattle Preservation Act Amendment Bill, 2012, on Saturday.
After much pursuation and talks with police officials, five volunteers of the Force were allowed inside the Raj Bhavan premises to submit the memorandum. The memorandum was handed over to a security officer who in turn was to submit it to the governor.
“We are disappointed with the conduct of the police. Despite our prior appointment with the governor, we weren’t allowed to meet him. We will continue with our fight and will be compelled to lay a siege to Raj Bhavan if the governor did not give assent to the Bill by January 14,” said Dayanand Swami, the chairperson of the Cow
Protection Force and World Animal Welfare Board.
