Hasan Rahim Khan, 24, converted to Hinduism and became Rahul Arya so that he could marry his sweetheart Yashoda Honnegowda, 19.
The marriage took place at the Shiva temple here on Wednesday. Rituals related to the conversion were performed prior to the marriage. Arya, a construction worker, said he and Yashoda were in love for the past four years and that the marriage did not face opposition from either family.
Members of the bride’s family blessed the couple at the marriage. Arya said he did not face any pressure or threat for or against converting to Hinduism.
