The High Court of Karnataka on Thursday adjourned the hearing on the contempt petition pertaining to shifting of Ambedkar statue from the precincts of Vidhana Soudha. The move is  to facilitate work on Namma Metro project.

Petitioner A V Amaranathan has moved the court seeking directions to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited and the State government to comply with the court order on shifting the statue.

He has contended that while the statues of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose have been shifted, that of Ambedkar continues to remain at the same location despite an order of the High Court.

During the earlier hearing, the Court had granted four weeks time to BMRCL to file its objections. However, on Thursday, the Corporation sought time to file its counter affidavit.
The Division Bench comprising Justices N Kumar and B Manohar adjourned the matter to March 11.
