The Lokayukta police had arrested Rajanna on December 8 while accepting bribe from Nataraj, a contractor, for providing electricity to his industrial firm.

When Nataraj met Rajanna on December 6 and sought power supply, the accused demanded Rs 75,000 from him. Nataraj accepted the deal and gave Rs 2,000 in advance and promised to pay the remaining amount later. The Lokayukta police trapped him while accepting bribe. Rajanna had approached the High Court seeking bail after the lower court rejected his bail application.
