The High Court on Friday sought details of staff strength, housing and infrastructure given to the Police Complaint Authority (PCA) in all the 30 districts.

Expressing displeasure over the functioning of the PCA, Justice A N Venugopala Gowda said that though the Supreme Court had directed the state government to set up a full fledged PCA six years ago, “it is unfortunate to know that the PCA still has 153 vacancies.” The judge, with regard to treatment given to villagers who faced police excesses during the Mahadayi agitation in Yamanur in Dharwad district, asked the district health officer to maintain a proper OPD register. The judge adjourned the hearing to September 15.
