Shiva Prasad Shetty, a resident of the same village had filed a habeas corpus petition over missing of his sister, Ramya Shetty. According to the petitioner, Mohammed (40), in the guise of working as a mason in his house, abducted his sister to Kanaje in Kerala and married her after converting her to Islam. He had alleged that the respondent (Mohammed) was already married and had three children.
The court, in its earlier hearing had sought a report on the matter. However, on finding the report unsatisfactory, it took the police to task and directed the investigating officer to be present before the court. The officer, who appeared before the court produced the case diary and sought time to submit interim report. Justice Abdul Nazeer has ordered notice.
