Hearing a petition by Jagirdhar, who had challenged the case against him lodged by Aaruni Jagirdhar, his 13-year old daughter who is with Chetana, Justice H V G Ramesh quashed the proceedings by allowing the matter.
Aaaruni in her complaint with the Banashankari Police had stated that her father forced her to come with him as per the court directions. She said that despite telling him that she had examinations, he forced her to go with her and when her mother and step father interfered, he threatened them.
Following this complaint, Jagirdhar was booked under section 506 of Indian Penal Code which amounts to criminal intimidation and issuing threat to life.
Jagirdhar in his petition said that the girl was supposed to be with him and it was not the child, but the mother who had filed a complaint. He pointed out that despite this incident, his relationship with his daughter is good and sought to quash the FIR and case against him.
