Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy has filed a criminal petition before the High Court for quashing of an FIR filed against him by the Lokayukta’s Special Investigating Team (SIT) with regard to “illegal” allotment of mining licence to a private firm when he was chief minister in 2007.

Kumaraswamy has contended that a private complaint was registered against him in 2011 by a man named T G Abraham with regard to the mining licence issued to Sri Venkateshwara Minerals.

In 2014, the SIT filed another FIR in the same matter. Kumaraswamy argued that two investigations could not be carried out simultaneously in the matter.

Justice A N Venugopala Gowda, who heard the petition, observed that there was no urgency in adjudicating it and adjourned the hearing until Friday.
