JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy on Monday claimed that a fresh case filed against him and his family members before the Lokayukta court recently was politically-motivated and termed it an attempt to tarnish his image.

The complainant has alleged that BSK Trading Company owned by Kumaraswamy’s brother, H D Ramesh, was into mining activities during his tenure as the chief minister and had allegedly amassed wealth to the tune of Rs 167 crore.

However, Kumaraswamy, in a press release, claimed the case was investigated by the Lokayukta police on many occasions in the past and found the allegations false and baseless. Even the then Lokayukta investigating team headed by U V Singh had sought all information on the transactions of the BSK trading company and found that all transactions were within the legal framework, the JD(S) leader claimed.

The complainant is a Karnataka Janata Party (KJP) worker.
