The Superintendent of Police C H Sudheer Kumar Reddy on Saturday suspended a head constable at Pandavapura police station for dereliction of duty following the murder of a Muslim youth.

Mahadevaiah was suspended after the father of the slain man, Luqman, alleged that police “neglected” the incident and did not register a case on the basis of his complaint. Luqman was fatally stabbed by a group of four men on Thursday following a clash over “religious differences”.

His funeral took place on Saturday. A large number of policemen were deployed in Pandavapura to avert any untoward incident.
