Karnataka Journalists' Association along with A J Institute of Dental Sciences and KMC, organised a free health check up camp for undertrials in the prison premises here on Saturday.
After inaugurating the camp, DCP Hanumantharaya said that the department gives priority for the health of undertrials. "As it is very difficult to take undertrials for a check up, such camps would help in ensuring their health," he said.
Incidentally, the police department is also observing crime prevention month in December, he added.
DHO Dr Ramakrishna Rao said that the camp is being organised because during a recent visit to the prison, it was learnt that many undertrials need a health check up as many of them were suffering from minor diseases pertaining to skin, ENT and dental problems.
Social activist and advocate S P Chengappa, Information Officer B A Khader Shah, Dr Shivsharan Shetty, in-charge superintendent Vijay Roadkar, Jailors V M Andani and Sidrama Patil were present among others.
