Heavy rain lashed parts of Kodagu and coastal areas on Wednesday. Kushalnagar in Kodagu experienced heavy showers accompanied with thunder and lightning. Schoolchildren were caught unawares as it rained cats and dogs.

Meanwhile, farmers were worried over the untimely rain in Kalasa in Chikmagalur district. They fear that the rain will delay plucking of arecanut.

Shimoga district received moderate to heavy rain accompanied by thunder. Dank weather prevailed in most part of the district. It rained for about two hours in Shikaripur. Houses in the low-lying areas were inundated by rainwater.

Lightning struck two houses in a village in Uppinangady taluk. Walls of the houses developed cracks while electrical installations were damaged due to lightning. However, there have been no reports of any casualty. Rain continued to pound Haveri and Dharwad on Wednesday. However, there was drizzling in Bagalkot and Gadag.
