Heavy rains continue to lash parts of NK region

Several parts of North Karnataka received heavy rains on Tuesday. However, there were no reports of loss of life and damage of properties.

Rains, accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorm, lashed Gadag, Lakshmeshwar, Mudaragi and Mulgund and surrounding areas towards the evening. After a brief lull of four days, it rained in Gadag town.

Roads near Venkateshwar theatre and Hatalwadi Naka were submerged affecting vehicular movement. There was heavy waterlogging at Zhenda circle and old DC office circle. The rains disrupted power supply for nearly seven hours.

Several areas across Bidar district were pounded by rain and hailstones which affected traffic due to severe waterlogging.

Bidar, Humnabad, Aurad and Chitaguppi and neighbouring areas received rains for over one hour. Roads at Rotary Circle, Dr B R Ambedkar Circle, Mailur Cross and Harogeri Cross were submerged halting vehicular movement.

Heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning lashed Kalaburagi district too. It rained heavily at Chincholi, Afzalpur taluk and Chittapur taluks.

Five cattle at Kadadhari Tanda, near Chenta village, in the taluk and 20 goats at Donagaon in Chittapur were struck dead by lightning.

Parts of Belagavi district received mild to heavy rains towards the evening.
Hirebagewadi and surrounding villages in Belagavi taluk received showers for about 15 minutes.

Kittur town and surrounding villages received heavy rains for about half an hour. Bailhongal town also received heavy rains.

Trees were uprooted in some of the areas.
It also rained at Arasikere, Uchchangidurga and surrounding areas at Harpanahalli taluk of Davangere district. It started raining around 4 pm and lasted for over half an hour.
