Heavy rains throws life out of gearMysore city receives 22.5 mm rains; property worth lakhs damaged in districts

Pre monsoon showers on Thursday brought down trees and blocked drainages in several parts of the City. However no casualties were reported. 

The City has been experiencing showers for the past two days, but heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms on Thursday resulted in several tree falls. Heavy winds brought down trees in Anegundi in Lashkar Mohalla and Kukkarahalli lake, where a big tree branch fell on the lake bund. Water logging was reported from several places, as drains were blocked.

Officials from Mysore City Corporation control room said they had received several such complaints and that they were in the process of having the drains cleared.  MET Department officials said that rain with heavy wind would continue in Mysore for another four days. On Thursday, Mysore city received 22.5 mm rains.

District Fire Officer H M Shivanegowda confirmed there were no any casualties. ACP (Traffic) Prabhakar Bhakri told Deccan Herald that the city was spared of any traffic pile ups. Several other parts of the district too received heavy showers. 

Chamarajangar

Incessant rains in city district threw life out of gear as heavy wind brought down trees and damaged houses. The loss from the damage to property is estimated to run into lakhs of rupees. Damage to houses and huts, fallen electric poles and coconut trees and damage to paddy crops were all reported from the villages of  Arakalavadi, Manchagundipura, Linganapura, Chowdalli, Ankanashettypura and Amachavadi villages in Chamarajanagar.  A fallen electric pole in Chowdalli was removed quickly after it fell across a road.

Mandya 

Mandya was also not spared as heavy rains that lashed the place for an hour blew roofs off houses and shops in Kikkeri. Water logging was also reported from these areas. Trees were uprooted on the Bangalore-Mysore highway, blocking the road and resulting in a traffic jam for a while.

Hassan

The district received mild rains and one incidence of water logging was reported from Basattikoppalu road.
