Hijab row: Principal lodges complaint against 14 students

In a fresh development, Sri Ramakunjeshwara Degree College Principal has lodged a complaint against 14 students who staged protest in front of the College premises on Friday opposing the college imposing ban on Muslim girls wearing headscarf to classes.

College Principal Vasanth Rao has registered complaints against seven students from Ramakunjeshwara  College and seven students of other colleges at Kadaba police station on Saturday.

In his complaint, he has accused the students of using defamatory words against the college authorities and creating chaos in the college campus.

Though over 300 people claiming to be the members of University Sarva College Sangha staged protest in the college premises on Friday, no protest was staged on Saturday. Hundreds of protesters from Mangalore, Bantwal, B C Road, Puttur and Uppinangady had arrived at the College on Friday and staged protest in the afternoon.

They had alleged the college of dividing the students in the name of religion.

In a press release, the office bearers of Campus Front of India have condemned the college authorities for registering complaint against the students.
