The members staged a protest in Chamarajanagar City on Thursday condemning hike in the prices of petrol and diesel once again.

They  took out a rally from Chamarajeshwara temple to Bhuvaneshwari circle and staged a rasta roko. They raised slogans against the Union Government and Union Petroleum Minister Murli Deora and burnt his effigy.

The agitators said the Centre had hiked the prices of petrol, diesel, kerosene and LPG four times so far since it came to power. The hike in petroleum prices has resulted in the manifold increase in the prices of the essential commodities.

If the same trend continues, the people would have to revolt against the Government. Though being a economist, the Prime Minister has failed to control the rising prices and manage the inflation effectively, they said adding that the electorate would teach a lesson to the Government in the coming polls.

The samithi members said they would intensify the agitation in the coming days if the Government failed to rein the inflation.

District president of samithi Aluru Mallu, secretary Rajashekar Basavanapura, members Kodimale Govindashetty, M S Murthy, Srinivas and C Mahesh led the protest.
