Tension prevailed at the Kadri Manjunatha temple here as members of Hindu organisations gathered there on Saturday, following a complaint on the volume of loudspeakers at the temple on special occasions. Police were deployed at the spot to prevent any untoward incident.

A few residents of Kadri had filed a complaint with the commissioner  of the Mangaluru City Corporation on the use of loudspeakers at the temple causing inconvenience to the residents, especially the aged and the ill. The commissioner had forwarded the complaint to the assistant commissioner of the Muzrai department.

In their letter dated August 22, 2016, the residents said those living in nearby apartments face inconvenience due to the sound pollution. The complainants had appealed to the temple authorities to keep the loudspeakers at the 'Rajangana' of the temple so that the sound is restricted to the temple premises.
