Gangaram Baderiya was granted conditional bail by a Lokayukta court.

The city special Lokayukta court on Friday granted conditional bail to senior IAS officer Gangaram Baderiya in the Janthakal Mining case.

The court granted the bail on the condition that he should cooperate with the investigating team, not attempt to destroy evidence, provide two securities, deposit bond worth Rs 5 lakh and not leave the country.

The court had completed hearing of the bail petition on May 30, but had reserved the order to June 2. The police arrested Baderiya, principal secretary (revenue department), on May 20.

Baderiya was serving as the commissioner (mines) in 2007, when the government permitted Janthakal Mines to lift mined ore in Chitradurga.
