The four accused were transporting panchaloha idol from Pavagada to Goa in a car. The police arrested the thieves near Chandrakala talkies in the City on Friday night. The idol weighs 11.33 kg.
The arrested have been identified as Gurudutt Chandrakanth Chary (33) a resident of Madgoa, Veerabhadrayya Hiremath (28) resident of Holehosur in Bailhongal taluk, Dundappa Melvanki (32) resident of Gokak and Lakshman Ingale (38). The team was lead by inspector V N Patil. A casehas been registered.
