The troika, accompanied by senior officials of the MCC, walked on roads and interacted with those connected with such places of worship. While some claimed that they have documents pertaining to the permission being given by the corporation and also for the usage of public places like footpaths and roads.

Estimate

According to an estimate, there are more than 200 illegal places of worship in the city.
The DC told Deccan Herald that a meeting of persons connected with those places of worship of Ward Number 1 and 2 will be held on November 2 at his chamber to discuss the issue.

In the city, there are nine zones. Besides, they were asked to bring whatever documents available with them to prove their claim.

“Our endeavour is to help them to voluntarily remove those structures on their own. All the three departments-district administration, police and corporation are ready for all kinds of cooperation in this regard. We want to hold the proceedings in a most transparent manner”, he added.

Observations

Explaining his observations, Gupta said there has been encroachment of public place and some officials in the past have given permission for making use of the same. The persons connected with the illegal places of worship were asked to give everything in writing to claim their ownership over the pubic place which would be examined by the authorities concerned. “There will be no immediate drive against such structures and sufficient time will be given for people concerned. There is no need to visit other zones but ready for the spot inspection, if necessary”.
