Illicit liquor rules TP meet

In the meeting presided over by TP President Prema Damodar, Lalitha said that illicit liquor is sold on the road side of Meguru village. When the members of SHGs protested against the sale, the sellers warned them of dire consequences.

“Despite having filed a complaint at Jayapura police station, no action has been taken so far,” she said.Standing Committee President Poornachandra informed that illicit liquor sale has been going on relentlessly at Bappunji, Kaimara and Nuggi villages. TP Vice-President Jayanth claimed that the liquor sale is going on at Niluvagilu openly.

ZP member Annapoorna alleged that a person named Sathish is involved in illicit liquor sale at Brahmanagodu. The status of schools in the taluk was discussed in the meeting. There is shortage of 24 percent of teachers in the taluk. As many as 30 teachers have gone on leave. The possibilities of giving the right to SDMCs to appoint teachers to the vacant posts was discussed. With 39 schools requesting for renovation, the TP insisted for the renovation work of two in Melinapet and Bilalu Koppa immediately.

It was also decided to suspend a teacher Juppa who had allegedly taken classes in inebriated condition. The TP President insisted to take action against Krishna Nayak from Heroor School for involving in misappropriation of school fund. It was also decided to take action against those officers who do not take part in the programmes organised by TP during national festivals.
