Addressing a news conference on Saturday, Vedike State Secretary K L Ashok said that district administration should not give scope for any new rituals and celebrations at Bababudangiri. “Sangh Parivar is all set to celebrate Datta Jayanthi in the same way as it did in 1998. The preparations of Sangh Parivar is causing fear among the people.

District administration must take steps to safeguard harmony and peace in the area,” he said and added that Sangh Parivar has put up banners with provocative writings but yet district administration is keeping quiet.  Vedike Secretary Ghaus Mohommad demanded compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the family of a Dalit boy named Babu who died while tying the banners at Mudigere and said that legal action must be taken against those who made him climb an electric pole to tie the banner.
