Demanding implementation of Karnataka Daily Wages Employees Welfare Act from the day it was introduced, the members of State Daily Wage Employees Federation staged a protest in Mandya on Thursday.
The members, who gathered near the deputy commissioner’s office, demanded 100% house rent allowance and other benefits on a par with the government officials. They urged for ‘equal pay for equal work’. Annual promotion and wages should be as per the recommended guidelines, they demanded.
The members sought leave encashment facilities, considering experience during promotion, retirement benefits, etc. They demanded that the services of contract workers be regularised.
