Heavy rainfall continued to lash various parts of Shimoga district, enhancing water levels in major dams.
The Tunga dam is 19 feet from reaching the brim. Water level in the dam crossed 1,800 feet against the maximum level of 1,819 feet.
According to officials, River Tunga is likely to overflow on the night of July 22, following incessant rainfall in Teerthahalli and the surrounding areas.
Vehicular movement on the Shimoga-Teerthahalli road is likely to be suspended as the stretch near Mandagadde will be submerged if River Tunga flows above the danger mark.
The inflow of water into Linganamakki dam was 39,887 cusecs, following copious rainfall in the catchment areas. Similarly, water level in the Bhadra dam rose to 172.80 feet against a maximum of 186 feet, following incessant rainfall in the catchment areas.
River Varada in Sagar taluk is flowing above the danger mark.
As many as 200 acres of paddy fields were inundated following incessant rainfall.
