In two separate incidents, Indian Coast Guards rescued over 15 fishermen stranded in the sea on Wednesday.
The coast Guards first rescued 11 crew on the fishing boat Immanuel Kunhappa, floating in the sea about 46 nautical miles off Karwar coast, due to engine failure. With help from Coast Guards, the boat became operational and returned to its base in Kochi.
In another incident, Coast Guard diverted its ship 'Savithri Phule' towards a fishing boat, 'Japamala Matha' which was sinking some 75 nautical miles off New Mangalore port. Four fishermen in the sinking boat were rescued and the boat was towed to Azhikkal fishing harbour.
