Senior BJP leader R Ashoka on Wednesday said he had never expected such a pathetic show by the BJP in the Assembly polls.
Talking to reporters at the counting centre at SSMRV PU College here, Ashoka said he did foresee his party’s defeat, but not in the manner it has happened.
“My estimate was that we would get at least 60 seats but the results are astounding. It pains me as the party built by the workers has fared so badly,” he remarked. Ashoka, who has registered a fifth straight win, said the electorate did not tolerate the infighting in the BJP. “The Congress did not win because of their good work, but because of our shortcomings,” he noted.
