Info dept holds seminar on cleanliness in Sullia

  “All of us should have concern towards environment and cleanliness,” said ZP Member Bhagirathi.

Speaking at a seminar on ‘Contagious diseases and cleanliness’ organised by Information Department at Aivarnad Primary Agriculture Co-operative Bank hall, she said “environment pollution is resulting in contagious diseases.” She also urged to construct toilets in houses and urged to co-operate in building a healthy society which is pollution free.

ZP Project Officer Takath Rao said that though the persons concerned have been propagating the need for toilets for the past 25 years, no major changes have taken place. However, Swacchatha Andolana started on October 2, 2005 with the co-operation of the public has seen success. Within three years, as many as 95,000 toilets have been constructed in DK. To declare DK district free from defecation, the co-operation of Sullia taluk is essential. As many as 12 Gram Panchayats in Sullia taluk has not reached the target under Swacchatha Andolan.

DHO Dr Jagannath delivered a lecture on the occasion.Information Department Assistant Director Rohini welcomed the gathering while Panchayat Secretary Narayana Gowda proposed a vote of thanks.
