Some men swimming in a tank on the premises of the NTPC’s power plant in Kudagi were given “inhuman’ treatment” on Saturday, drawing widespread criticism.

The youths were cooling off in the tank when securitymen asked them to come out. A video being circulated on WhatsApp shows a securityman making a youth do 40 push-ups. When the youth gets exhausted, the securityman is seen putting his leg on him so that he does not stop. Some people are heard making fun of the youth in the 75-second video.

Local residents did not have enough information about the incident, but said they had seen the video only on WhatsApp. They expressed anger at the management of the power unit run by the National Thermal Power Corporation. Satyabhama, the general manager of the technical division, and C Kumar, senior manager of the HR department, were not available for comment. Ravindra Naikodi, the police sub-inspector of Kolhar, said he had no information about the incident.
