A mobile app that enables you to control your laptop and desktop devices. A retail payment system, connected to your bank account, which uses your finger print to make payments. These were among winning projects presented by students at Unysis’ Technical Project Contest, Cloud 20/20 version 5.0, on Thursday. 

IPay has been designed by group of engineering students of Bangalore-based Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology. Explaining the concept, Team Member Pruthvi B Setty said: “Our payment system cuts the hassles of standing in long queues. Before any payment is made, a unique five digit ID is generated every time also providing safety against credit fraud.

IIT (BHU) Varanasi’s Vineet Kumar and Akash Singh’s mobile app helps control laptops and desktop devices using Bluetooth, Wi-fi to take control over hardware and software. “This is a unique device that can be used across all operating systems,” Vineet said. 

The contest saw participation from 300 colleges from across the country with 7200 students registering for it. Out of 1,357 projects submissions, 390 were short listed and ultimately boiled down to last six best projects. Besides IIT (BHU), Varanasi and NMIT who won the first (Rs 1.25 lakh) and second (Rs 70,000) prizes respectively, team from Pondicherry Engineering College won the third prize (Rs 50,000) for their project — Cloud Connect which enables to help maximise profits and increase customer base for Cloud vendors. 

The phone app — Med Assistance developed by four students of Jyothi Institute of Technology, Kanakpura, bagged the Uniyis Innovation Labs Programme prize. The app enables doctors check medical reports of patients on the phone itself. It can also help them to better organise their schedule through regular updates of patients and appointments.
