International-level Krishi Mela next year: UAS-D VC

Speaking at the four-day Krishi Mela-2011 concluded here yesterday, he said the mela was success not only for a record participation of the people, but also because of UAS-D selling 1,442 quintals of seeds worth Rs 70 lakh at the Beeja (seed) Mela held as part of Krishi Mela 2011.

"Farmers from all north Karnataka districts bought seeds for the forthcoming Rabi season. Seeds such as jowar, winter wheat, channa (Bengal gram), sunflower and saff flower were in demand," Hanchinaal said.

Apart from good seed sales, farmers booked tractors and five sugarcane crushers capable of crushing nearly 30 tonnes of sugarcane a day.
