Speaking at the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Medical College here on Monday, secretary of the College G H Nagaraj emphasised on the need to create ‘green awareness’ in the student community.

He said educating the students on the need to preserve greenery will go a long way in environmental conservation measures. Trees play vital role in containing environmental pollution, Nagaraj said.
Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Krishnappa suggested farmers to plant saplings in their farm lands and houses.
Forest Conservator Ramesh said the country requires 33 per cent forest coverage. He emphasised that afforestation checks the ill effects of environmental pollution. Office-bearers of various Gram Panchayats in the taluk were present.
