Indian Oil Corporation Chairman Sanjiv Singh said that the IOC is ready to supply BS VI or Euro-VI grade petrol and diesel to the national Capital from April 1, 2018.

To a query on the sidelines of the 25th national conference on internal combustion engines and combustions 2017 organised by the NITK, Surathkal, here on Friday, he said: "We will be able to meet the requirement of Delhi from April 1, 2018."

The IOC is confident of supplying Euro VI grade petrol and diesel across the country by April 1, 2020.

Stating that the IOC is setting up three bio-ethanol plants including one at Haryana and Gujarat, he said: "The biofuels will be able to support the requirements for motor spirit (petrol) blends set by the Government of India while enabling Indian Oil to add value while reducing its emissions." Both ethanol and methanol will complement the conventional fuel. However, the convention fuels will not be replaced with alternative fuels overnight, he felt.

On the drop in the price of crude oil in the international market, he said it will have an impact. However, he did not explain whether it will reduce the price of petrol and diesel in India.
