Former Union minister and senior Congress legislator Siddu B Nyamagouda, 67, died in a road accident in the wee hours of Monday.
The Jamkhandi MLA was returning from Goa to Jamakhandi when he met with an accident near Tulasigeri. His car reportedly hit the median and he suffered an injury on his chest.
Nyamagouda was one of the 78 Congress MLAs who was elected to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly during the recently-held polls. Nyamagouda also represented Bagalkot in the Lok Sabha and was a minister in Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao’s government at the Centre.
The Congress and former chief minister Siddaramaiah tweeted condolences.
