The High Court on Tuesday was unusually crowded, despite the vacation, with supporters of former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalitha thronging the place, as her bail application had come up for hearing.

The High Court police personnel, who probably had not anticipated so many AIADMK supporters, found it tough to manage the situation and had to be assisted by police from outside.

Officials from the Cubbon Park police station and other stations were found manning the three main gates of the court. Refusing entry to most of them as a security measure, the police allowed only the advocates and the HC staff.

Some mediapersons were also refused entry due to confusion and were found requesting the police to allow them inside before the hearing got over.  AIADMK cadre was found standing outside the gates after they were denied entry. The crowd, however, dissolved immediately as the hearing was adjourned within a couple of minutes.
