The JD(S) has demanded that the office of the Assembly Speaker should recommend to the Election Commission to disqualify the eight rebel MLAs of the party.
The party’s disciplinary committee has decided to issue show cause notice to these MLAs, who went against the party’s whip during the recent Rajya Sabha and Legislative Council elections. MLAs B B Ningaiah (Mudigere) and C N Balakrishna (Shravanabelagola) met Assembly protem speaker Shivashankara Reddy on Monday and submitted a memorandum in this regard.
Zameer Ahmed Khan, N Cheluvarayaswamy, Iqbal Ansari, Akhanda Srinivasamurthy, K Gopalaiah, Bheema Naik, H C Balakrishna and Ramesh Bandisiddegowda had cross-voted in the Rajya Sabha election.
