The border district has been successful in retaining its fifth spot by securing 70.46 per cent. No college in the district has scored cent per cent or zero result. While the rural students registered 70.35 per cent, city students scored  70.5 per cent result.

Commerce students have scored 81.15 per cent, Arts - 59 per cent and Science students have scored 61.88 per cent.

In all, 5,622 students appeared for examination of which 3,961 students passed. Out of 2,921 boys appeared for the exams, 1,955 of them passed registering 67 per cent result. As many as 2,701 girl students wrote examination of which 2006 passed with the pass percentage of 74.26.

Eighty three students passed in distinction and 2,110 students in first class, 1,242 in second class and 892 in third class.

The number of rural students who wrote the exams are 1,663, out of this 1,170 students passed the exam. The city students were 3,959 and 2,791 have passes and registered 70.5 per cent.

Deputy Director of PU Education N Rohini told Deccan Herald that group discussions were held after the college hours which helped them to a great extent.

Priority was given to attendance and workshops were held for quality education and which helped in retaining the position, she said.

B Amoolya scored 564 marks and topped the district in the Science stream. Jyothi of Kamagere government PU college secured 520 and topped the Arts stream. G I Madhukumar of KSN PU College of Gundlupet topped the Commerce group by scoring 554 marks.
