Speaking at the Founders Day celebrations at the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) on Wednesday, he said that they had already created commercial courts in each High Court and would also attempt to integrate technology in the functioning of High Courts so that delays could be effectively dealt with.
“We need to reassert people’s faith again in the Judiciary, so that they will not go for extra-judicial remedies,” he commented.
The Chairman of Unique Identification Authority of India, Nandan Nilekani was conferred the Sir M Visvesvaraya Memorial award at the event.
Nilekani, who outlined the importance of the unique identification number, said that it would be launched in three to four weeks time and they would attempt to reach a target of 600 million people in the next four years.
He described the process of elimination of duplicate cards which required massive computing ability and advanced software.
He reaffirmed his faith in Bangalore as the destination for cutting edge work in technology stating that the regional and technical centre of the UIDAI group was in Bangalore. Lokayukta Santhosh Hegde was also present at the event.
