Jumbos raid farm in Hunsur

Farmers in the region said that four elephants from Veeranahosahalli forest had entered the farms in search of food.

The jumbos have caused damage to paddy crop in the farm of ryot Narasimhaiah near the Hanagodu Canal. The herd was last sighted in the Punyabhoomi Farm belonging to Prof Srinivasagowda. Forest department officer Radhakrishna and circle inspector Shashidhar are involved in chasing away the jumbos.

When the forest staffers were involved in chasing away the jumbos, the farmers were said to have been watching the operation in the progress.

Meanwhile, a bullet fired by a forest staffer is said to have grazed past a villager hailing from Ballenahalli. However, no serious injuries have been reported.
