Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday downplayed reports regarding a security breach at the Vidhana Soudha on Tuesday afternoon, saying he did not require any security as he had no threat to his life.
Addressing reporters here on Wednesday, he said, “A supporter had come to the office with a battery-operated garland of lights in a cardboard box. When he came forward to garland me, there was a slight confusion. Even though there was no threat, there was a breach in the security protocol by the police. The department will conduct an inquiry and take necessary action.”
“He had come to congratulate me on completing two years in office. Apparently, he had hoped that the government’s future would be much brighter (with the garland),” he said.
New KPSC nominations
With Governor Vajubhai Vala rejecting the names of four persons nominated to the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), the chief minister said the State government would submit a revised list to the governor.
The government had nominated V R Sudarshan as KPSC chairman and three other members.
He said he was not aware why the governor had rejected the names. The government would review the reasons for the rejection and submit a new list, he said. Siddaramaiah refused to give details on the probable nominations.
