P Vilas, a Kalaburagi advocate, has presented two people cheques of Rs 50,000 each, for having acted without communal bias and attempted to save Abdul Basheer who was killed in communal strife in Mangaluru on January 3, 2018.
Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Kumar presented the cheques to the two good Samaritans Abdul Majeed and Shekhar in his office on Tuesday, here in Mangaluru.
The DC said that Abdul Majeed rushed to the spot and tried to revive Basheer and Shekar transported Basheer who was lying in a pool of blood, by ambulance to hospital.
Hindu activist Deepak Rao was killed in Katipalla, Suratkal, near Mangaluru, on January 3 and Abdul Basheer was murdered in retaliation at Kottara Chowk the same evening.
