Speaking to mediapersons on the sidelines of the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Mangalore airport on Sunday, he said, “It is an attempt to divert attention from the corruption charges against the government. We need to take Kannada to the world. By organising Vishwa Kannada Sammelana, nothing can be achieved. Even the Global Investors Meet was a waste.”

“When I was in power, I had striven for the growth of Kannada in the State. I have also worked towards getting classical status for Kannada,” the Minister added.

Moily predicted the victory of the Congress in the forthcoming Assembly elections in Kerala, West Bengal, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and Assam.

To a query on the party floated by Jaganmohan Reddy in Andhra Pradesh, Moily said, “Regional parties do not survive for long.”
