Kappadi Jatra: Police warn against animal sacrifice

A release from the office of Superintendent of Police stated that the jatra slated to be held from March 2 to 4. There is a prohibition on sacrificing animals and pamphlets carrying the similar message has been distributed at the villages in Mandya, Hassan and Chamarajanagar districts, from where devotees arrive in large numbers. That apart, in the Mysore district too, pamphlets are distributed at T Narsipur, Nanjangud  and H D Kote taluks.

To monitor the implementation of the ban, two teams have been formed under a task force. The force consists of officers drawn from Animal Husbandry, Revenue departments, Gram Panchayat workers, police and home guards. They will be monitoring the situation round the clock. All the vehicles entering the place will also be inspected, the release added.
