On the very first day of the operation, officials captured a tusker, estimated to be around 20 years old, in the old Harekoppa forest area near Madabur. Authorities stated that the elephant will be taken to the Dubare elephant camp in Kushalnagar, Kodagu district.

The operation was launched with the help of four trained elephants from Sakrebailu in Shivamogga and three from the Dubare elephant camp. Last week, two people were killed in separate wild elephant attacks over a span of four days.

The Forest Department had granted the permission to capture and relocate two elephants. On July 29, one elephant had already been captured near Elekallu in the same taluk.
