Lok Sabha Members G Kumar Naik, E Tukaram, Shreyas Patel, Prabha Mallikarjun, Sagar Khandre and Sunil Bose met the Minister here and handed over a memorandum.

Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) for sugarcane has not been revised since 2019, meanwhile, the cost of sugar production has risen every single year, widening the gap and pushing mills and farmers into financial strain, the memorandum said.

Market prices of Maize have collapsed to nearly half the MSP, farmers have no viable or remunerative avenues to sell their harvest, triggering severe income losses. Even the market prices of Toor Dal have fallen sharply far below the MSP, causing huge distress among cultivators across North Karnataka, the plea said.

" The Union Minister gave us a patient hearing and assured that the Union Government will examine the issues and extend all possible support at the earliest.," Kumar Naik said in a statement.
