Davangere: As many as four spotted deer have reportedly died of suspected Hemorrhagic septicemia, at Indira Priyadarshini mini zoo at Aangodu near Davangere over the last four days. The efforts are to protect the remaining 166 spotted deers as it is contagious.

Speaking to DH, Deputy Conservator of Forests Harshavarshan said of the 170 spotted deers in the zoo, four died of suspected Hemorrhagic septicemia and the samples of blood and organs of the dead spotted deer have been sent to laboratories functioning in Bengaluru and Davangere. The medical report is awaited. .

Two veterinary doctors-one from Belagavi and Bengaluru are coming to Davangere to start the treatment. Besides, four veterinary officers are in the local advisory committee. We can't wait as it could spread to the remaining spotted deers. So, all possible steps have been taken to ensure that the rest of the spotted deers would not get infected by it.
