Mangaluru: The Mangaluru CCB police have arrested an associate of the underworld fugitive Kali Yogish, who had been absconding for the past nine years. During the arrest, the police seized MDMA from his possession.
Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal said, "Based on a tip off, the Mangaluru CCB police conducted a raid and apprehended him while he was selling narcotics in the Nanthoor area of Mangaluru city. It was revealed that he had smuggled the drugs from Kasaragod. The arrested is Abdul Aseer, alias Saddu alias Saadu, or Maya (32), son of Mohammed Ashraf from Kasargod district."
During the operation, the police seized 53 grams of MDMA worth Rs five lakh from his possession. The arrested is a close associate of Kali Yogish, who is currently hiding abroad. He was previously involved in a shooting incident at Rajdhani Jewellers in Puttur and was released on bail. However, he later remained absconding and failed to appear before the court, said the commissioner.
Apart from this, he has a history of multiple criminal cases, including the Shafiq murder case registered at the Kumble Police Station, a POCSO case, a theft case, and setting fire to a vehicle registered at the Kasaragod Town Police Station. The court had issued a warrant against him.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Mangaluru Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal, with supervision from DCP (Law andOrder) Siddharth Goyal, and DCP (Crime and Traffic) K Ravishankar. The operation was led by CCB ACP Manoj Kumar Naik , CCB Inspectors Rafiq KM, PSI Sharanappa Bhandari, Sudeep MV, Narendra, ASIs Mohan KV, Ram Poojary, Sheenappa, Sujan Shetty, along with other CCB personnel.
