According to Saturday’s order issued by the social welfare department, 17 per cent SCs and 7 per cent STs should be appointed to represent the government.

This was first discussed at a meeting in the social welfare department in June last year, soon after the Congress came to power.

In October this year, the law department gave its opinion that the reservation of 24 per cent can be provided while nominating government attorneys.
