Mangaluru: In an operation based on credible information, police officials from Sullia Police Station, led by PSI Santosh Kumar BP (law and order), intercepted two trucks involved in illegal transportation of laterite stone without valid permits.
The operation took place at Narkodu in Aletti village. Two trucks were found transporting red stone suspected to have been stolen from an undisclosed location.
Both vehicles, along with their drivers, were taken into custody for further legal action.
A case has been registered at Sullia Police Station under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Section 4(1) of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act (MMRD), Karnataka Minor Mineral Concession Rules 3, 44 & 66(1), and Section 192(a) of the Indian Motor Vehicles Act.
Police have stated that further legal procedures are underway.
